So some of you may remember a little while ago I was making bath melts for you to buy. Well, it was a massive ball ache trying to find a way of sending them out without melting (especially this week ?) so I’ve decided to be really nice and give you the recipe so that you can make your own!

In a quest to get the most out of my me-time, I decided to have a crack at making my own bath melts, and it’s so super easy!
You will need:
☀️ Shea Butter – 50g
☀️ Cocoa Butter – 50g (larger tub here)
☀️ Coconut solid oil – 2 tbsp
☀️ Any pure Essential Oil – 20 drops
☀️ Cupcake cases
☀️ Saucepan, glass bowl and boiling water
This should make 10 mini melts, but it will depend on how much you pour into each cupcake case.
How to make:
☀️ Place the Shea butter and cocoa butter in a glass bowl and melt – to do this I poured boiling water into a saucepan and put the Shea butter and cocoa butter in to a melting pot and heated through, much like if you’re melting chocolate ?
☀️ Add the coconut oil to the warm melted butters, then add the essential oil and mix. Then pour into soap moulds or miniature cup cake cases.
☀️ Leave to cool and set (place them in the fridge once they’ve lost their heat). Keep them cool and dry on their cases and store in the fridge until needed. They’ll keep for 3 months, so they have a great shelf life 🙂
How to use:
☀️ Add a melt to your warm bath. It will slowly melt, releasing a gorgeous skin softening treat. Alternatively you can use it in a warm shower, allowing it to soften in the heat of the water, then rubbing it into your skin like a soap.
⭐ Please take care when getting in and out of the bath when using this product ⭐
I use different essential oils in my melts, depending on my moods… I suffer a lot with PMT so I have a batch made with Clary Sage and Geranium (10 drops each) and I have a batch with just Geranium – it’s really good for balancing emotions and helps with anxiety too!
The batch in the photos is made with Ylang Ylang which is amazing for aiding relaxation and treating depression. I normally have this in my diffuser and I love it – I’ve not tried it in bath melt form yet but I should imagine it’s amazing mixed with the butters in a relaxing bath ? I’ll keep you updated with my experience.
Essential oils are brilliant for helping with all kinds of issues, from aches and pains to lack of sleep, so if you’d like help in finding your perfect essential oil just let me know and I’ll help you find one that’s suitable!
So there you have it – how to make your own amazing bath melts ? if you decide to have a go at making some, please do let me know how they turn out!
Enjoy,
Plinky xx
