Hullo!
So it’s been a long time since I made any Plinky and Boe posts, so I thought we were due a little write up ?
(this post contains affiliate links – you can read up on them in our blog post here.)
Anyway…. So in the Plinky house, it’s well known that Mondays are a bit of a struggle – Boe finds it very tough during the transition of having fun family weekends to Dada then going off to work for the day. He misses him incredibly, and it shows in his behavior 🙁
So on Mondays I try to keep things as simple as possible for us both, so that I can give him as much attention and affection as he needs, as well as activities to keep him busy.
As those of you with an adorably clingy baby knows, it’s hard to spend time creating fun for them when they want and need your attention NOW!
Boe is quite a technical player… He can spend all day transferring pasta, water or any other item from one pot to another (we will ignore his trajectory schema for the time being lol), so for one of our Monday play sessions I stuck a few kitchen roll tubes on to my (very cherished Expedit) for Boe to drop pasta, foil balls (and whatever else was small enough) to slide down them and land in the box at the bottom.
Boe has found this lots of fun, and Buffy the cat has too when he’s been using foil balls (which makes it a double winner in my eyes lol).
We also have a LOT of water play in this house. Boe is in his kitchen helper multiple times a day playing in the sink, but sometimes we change it up and just fill a wash bowl with water, add in a few plastic cups (and the obligatory piece of pasta) and we will have hours of fun.
Boe’s phonics have been coming along really well over the last 4-5 months, so recently I added in some lower case foam letters for him to hunt through bubbles for too!
Our last little Monday Morning madness came in the simple form of Dada’s shaving foam, and my goodness that was a complete giggle! Don’t get me wrong, the clean up afterwards was a nightmare, but I’ve not seen Boe laugh that uncontrollably for a number of Monday’s!
We both had so much fun and ended up being absolutely covered in foam ? Mr Plinky wasn’t overly impressed that we’d used the last of him shaving foam, but Hey-ho, we enjoyed ourselves!
I can’t wait til the weather starts to get a lot warmer and we can do this sort of thing outside – then all I’ll need to do is hose Boe and his chair down ?
I love the fact that Boe still finds the most fun in the simplest of activities.
How about your tiddler? What do they like to play with? Come and join the discussion on our Facebook page ❤️
