Morning all! It’s the weekend…. What’s on everyone’s to-do list today? We’re building Boe’s playhouse in the garden and getting his area finished off so he has somewhere safe to play. I can’t wait for it to be finished ?
Anyhoo …. Yesterday my recovery from surgery was going well, so I decided to do a bit of baking. I’m using the term baking very loosely as it was a 5 minute job to be honest ?
In hindsight, for a blog post I should have made the photo look more “professional”, but this was their “just out of the oven shot”
Boe is really into the Gruffalo again at the moment. If you whisper “a mouse took a stroll the the deep dark wood”, his little toddler legs take him to his book shall and he pulls out the Gruffalo for us to read. He’s a clever chicken is Boe.
So sometimes we have Gruffalo snacks instead of the usual fruit (or sneaky packet of quivers which we share) and yesterday was the return of the Poisonous Warts. We love them – they’re quick and easy and smell deeeeelicious as they’re cooking.
So who’s up for a little recipe? Good as I’m about to type it out ?
To make Poisonous Warts you will need:
- 4 medium eggs
- 60g Feta Cheese
- Chives
- 10 teaspoons of peas
- Butter for greasing
What To Do:
- Preheat the oven to 180° / gas mark 4
- Grease the holes of the Muffin tray by dipping a paper towel or foil in to the butter and rubbing around each hole
- Break the eggs into the measuring jug and pick out any pieces of shell
- Cut up the chives into small pieces (or if you’re like me and have a jar of dried Chives from the supermarket then just add in a large sprinkling lol)
- Use your fingers to break up the Feta cheese and add into the mixture. I had to sub the Feta for regular cheddar yesterday as I’d run out of the first option. It was fine though – and you can either add it in little chunks or grated
- Mix everything really well with a fork
- Pour the mixture into the wholes of the Muffin tray. It should make about 8 frittatas but I like to fill my holes a bit more, which is why we only ever get 5. (3 for me, 2 for Boe ?)
- Add a teaspoon of peas to each one
- Pop then in the oven for around 15 minues
- Once they’re cooked, run a knife gently round the edges of each frittata and then carefully take them out.
They can be eaten hot or cold, but as Boe is still small we wait for them to cool down a bit.
He loves making these with me – his job is to sprinkle in the chives (or just chuck them in, in is world) and them pop the peas in one by one. Although we use frozen peas, so we pinch a few to eat along the way ?
So that’s how we make Poisonous Warts…. They taste a lot more yummy than they sound haha. Sorry for the lack of photos – it was very much a “make ’em and eat ’em moment. I’ll update with more photos at some point, I’m sure….
Are you going to try making some soon? Why not pop a photo of your finished versions on our fb wall?
Have a good weekend
